This small animal, grouped with prawns and lobsters as seafood, is made up of two sections - the head and the tail. The shrimp's heart is found in its thorax, right after the head, and both areas are shielded by a single exoskeleton. This configuration gives the impression that the heart is situated in its head, a wonder of nature.
Contrary to popular belief, the brain of a shrimp is not situated in its chest but rather in its true head, positioned just after its eyes. This anatomical arrangement provides significant advantages in terms of safety and protection, as the head, or cephalic portion, is shielded by a thick protective layer. This positioning ensures a safer environment for vital internal organs.
The shrimp's heart is also located in its head and boasts three pairs of entrances through which blood is received. Arteries extend in multiple directions from the heart, facilitating the circulation of blood throughout the shrimp's body.
